How can I repair a blemish in my hardwood floor?

I have engineered hardwood flooring with a polyurethane finish. The installers got some glue on the floors. I tried to remove it with a plastic scraper. I damaged the finish and now there is an unsightly hazy/dulled part about 2inches in diameter. Can I spot-fix this? How can I repair a blemish in my hardwood floor?
1- learn what precise finish was applied to the flooring ....the factory will tell you what the finish is.

2-get some inexpensive aluminum flashing + - 6'; in width

3- cut the flashing to fit the full board that has been damaged....you will tape this to the adjacent flooring with blue painters tape so that you will see only the one damaged board ...you will follow the seams of this one board so that when you sand this board (100% surface ) you will not abrade any part of the boards surrounding this one board.

You will be applying finish to the entire board.....you will rely on the 4 seams of the adjacent boards to provide the delineation of this repair so be careful where you tape off the area ....and don't rely on the blue tape to maintain a straight line .....use the flashing for this line....

4- sand the board using 220 grit sand paper and do not attempt to sand through the finish ....you are only preparing the surface for a new finish.

5- remove the tape and flashing ....then tack cloth the area and apply a fresh ( tape only ) perimiter....apply the new finish evenly but not heavily ....careful not to build up too much finish....the original pre finished flooring was sprayed at the factory in optimum conditions ....

If you have acces to a spray gun and know how to spray , here's where you'll get to do that ....if not ....practice finishing some other board until you get the right finish you're after

Be patient ....wait at least twelve hours before you remove the tape ....but be certain that this area for repair is not in contact with direct sun ....if it is you'll need to protect the area in some way so as to keep the sun off the area until you remove the tape....remember the ultraviolet rays will leave a permanent shadow where the taped off area was....

I'll bet you won't be able to find the problem after one week ....How can I repair a blemish in my hardwood floor?
a little bit of wax and a high speed drill with a buffing head that will do the trick on such a small area
It sounds to me like you have money(high end flooring) But you're not so good around the house. It can be done with thinner %26amp; then refinished. It's tricky.Call a pro
